The cross which man despises has become a symbol of salvation, something all must look up to. When the cross becomes your focus, you will not have a problem with becoming great. Jesus points out that in order to experience greatness you must become a slave, a member of the lowest rung of the social ladder. He Himself said, “Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant” (Matthew 20:26). GOD’S UNIVERSITY: Many Bible characters were not taken into physical wildernesses. This can be verified by the experience of Jonathan whose father tried to kill him because he sought to protect his friend—the king’s rival—David. You don’t have to go into a literal wilderness to understand what it is like to be in one. Nevertheless, the experience is one of wilderness proportion. God’s University is similar, yet different to Man’s. There is a theme I found running throughout the Bible when God is ready to move you to the next level or prepare you for ministries according to your giftedness, or take you to the next level in ministry, or entrust you with the Canaan or Palace He has for you.
